Sunderland: Premier League 2026/27 fixtures and schedule

Sunderland travel to Ipswich Town on the opening weekend of the Premier League season and must wait until December for their first derby match against Newcastle United.

The Black Cats, who qualified for the Europa League after a seventh-place finish in the last campaign, will head to Portman Road on Saturday August 22, while they face Fulham in their opening home match on Saturday August 29, and then visit Brentford on Saturday September 5.

A Tyne-Wear showdown with Newcastle has been scheduled at St James' Park on Saturday December 5 and the return fixture is at the Stadium of Light on Saturday May 1.

Sunderland will start their festive matches by hosting Crystal Palace on Saturday December 19 and travel to Everton on Boxing Day before ending the year at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Wednesday December 30.

Regis Le Bris' team will begin 2027 with a home match against Hull City on Saturday January 2.

In the closing matches of the campaign, the Black Cats will host Bournemouth on Saturday May 15 and then travel to Leeds United on Sunday May 23 before ending the season with a home match against Manchester City on Sunday May 30.
